Based in Mumbai, India, we provide concert sound and audio solutions all over India, and also provide services for world-wide tours.

With cutting-edge professional audio gear, and the technical expertise that’s required to use such equipment, We are committed to providing the best equipment with unparalleled service.

SOUND.COM & Grips Pro Events, Mega QMP at Ramoji Film City

As the torrential rains in Mumbai kicked off, SOUND.COM’s tour trucks moved to Hyderabad for Grips Pro Events, Mega QMP — perhaps the biggest conference of the year (for a client that did not wish to be named). SOUND.COM has been doing this event for over 5 years, and it has grown by leaps and bounds, as has our inventory and professional skill set.

The event was held at the Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad, which is certified by the Guinness Book of Records to be the largest film studio complex in the world! It’s possibly the only place in India that could meet the client’s requirements of hosting over 3,500 delegates. We had to provide 3 large setups, 1 medium system and 22 smaller PAs, all spread over the sprawling Ramoji Film City.

Needless to say, Ramoji Film City Studios is humongous, and is unlike anything most people have ever experienced. The best thing about a venue as big as this is that it’s never a problem setting up riggings to fly systems. However, the sheer vastness of the venue’s size makes it an acoustical nightmare. The large, flown video screens that were flown midway through the venue added to the acoustical complexity.

To circumvent these problems, SOUND.COM was proud to debut the latest tool in our equipment arsenal — 18 spanking-new VT4888 mid-size line array boxes. Sixteen VT4888s were flown on the main hangs, and two were used as front-fills — we needed their power because of the noisy crowds and venue size. Since the corners can get noisy as well, we also provided four VRX 932 speakers as lip-fills. The dead spots behind the large screens were filled-in by eight VRX 932LAs, as well as the VT4880 subwoofers that we placed on the floor for the low frequency extension

The other two entertainment studios had twelve VT4889s each, which we flew, and were augmented with VT4880 subwoofers. We also deployed a total of 44 Crown IT8000 power amplifiers, which we have recently upgraded to. Our decision to go all IT8000 stems from the fact that it’s the most powerful, and gives us all the headroom we need

Another very challenging task at such events is managing the wireless deployment, and we left no stone unturned to ensure that the RF was handled flawlessly. Apart from using top-of-the-line wireless rigs, the team used frequency allocations smartly to ensure that every inch was covered. The team also took turns answering the delegates’ queries about the “Darth Vaderish” products that were deployed across the venue. They were referring to our Sennheiser and Shure ‘Helical’ antennas, which ensured the ability of the transmitters to lock on to the receivers.

It was teamwork that saw us breeze through a show of such gargantuan proportions. Gilroy Valladares managed the headline conference, Sunil Karanjikar took care of the live acts, and Yusuf Shaikh and Gautam Sarkar supervised all the 22 smaller rigs. They were helped by 26 SOUND.COM crew members, who provided exemplary support in such demanding circumstances. The events were scheduled to move quickly from one venue to another, and our budding engineers Ashish Malviya and Ezekeil Tyle, along with our backstage team of Mohsin Shaikh, Kishore Chavan and Ashok Giri, made sure that the transitions were uninterrupted.

The live acts featured Sunidhi Chauhan and Kunal Ganjawala, and the finale brought them together for a duet. The awards night had a performance by Neha Dhupia. Although not present at the event, Warren D’Souza commented, “The SOUND.COM staff has made us very proud of the professional way in which they conducted themselves. Not just the team that went to Hyderabad, but also the rest of the SOUND.COM crew who handled the other productions in Mumbai, as well as those on current international tours. We have demonstrated that we are ready to partner with our customers for any challenge, and provide exemplary audio solutions for them. Well done lads, keep the SOUND.COM flag flying high!”
